Basic requirements for a rigger:

Ability to study objects that need to be moved and evaluate all equipment parameters.

Ability to construct a lifting device at the transportation site, secure cables, hooks and other devices.

Ability to connect ropes and slings.

Ability to construct façade lifting devices.

Having the necessary knowledge to maintain and repair rigging equipment.

Riggers classification

All riggers are divided into several groups depending on their rank. Rigger grades are numbered from 2 to 5. Riggers of the 5th category are considered the most qualified and capable of performing complex work.

Briefly about each category:

A 2nd category rigger must be able to use simple rigging equipment, know the basics of carpentry, know the rules for operating rigging, methods for constructing temporary walkways, know the rules for working with slings, and know the procedure for action in an emergency.

Riggers of the 3rd category perform work on moving loads from 5 to 25 tons in various planes, move loads that require special care (pianos, medical equipment), must have the ability to splice cables with a diameter of up to 25 mm and ropes up to 40 mm, be able to handle all types sling

A rigger of the 4th category must have at least 1 year of work experience in the previous category, be able to move loads from 25 to 50 tons in various planes, be able to grind any ropes and cables, and be qualified to test cables, chains and other equipment , can install a trestle trestle.

A rigger of the 5th category must have at least 1 year of work experience in the previous category, can move a load weighing more than 50 tons, is able to determine the mass and center of gravity of an object, selects equipment for moving, and can test all equipment.

A rigger is not an ordinary loader or mover. The ability to handle various technical devices makes him a highly specialized specialist.
